Melissa Martinie

Manager Mine Engineering, North Division, Carmeuse

Melissa L. H. Martinie, P.E., graduated magna cum laude in 2006 with a B.S in mining engineering from Virginia Tech, where she participated in a yearlong European Mining Course.  She worked at multiple iron ore mines and was Chief Engineer on an international assignment with Cliffs Natural Resources. 

In addition to engineering, she has also worked in project management working directly in the mining industry and as a Senior Project Manager at Krech Ojard, an engineering and architecture firm. She has been with Carmeuse in the upper Midwest since 2018 and currently serves as the Manager of Mine Engineering for Carmeuse’s North Division.

Ms. Martinie is a Registered Member of SME, Six Sigma Black Belt, and an intermediate French speaker.  She joined SME as a student and is an active member of the Mining & Exploration Division.  Currently, she serves as the MN Section Vice Chair. Melissa has been working with all three Minnesota Student Chapters since 2016.  She also has been working with the local Girl Scout council to help them explore mining.
