Careers in Mining
At 100%, Virginia Tech's Mining & Minerals Engineering
program has the highest job placement rate at the university.
A large part of this success is the result of the department’s
extensive recruiting program.
Recruiter Visits
Throughout the academic year, recruiters from well known mining and minerals engineering companies come to our department to interview dierctly with the students. In addition to hiring for full-time positions, many recruiters offer summer jobs, internships and co-ops.
To interview with a company, students must sign up at the main office (100 Holden Hall). Recruiter interview schedules for the 2007/2008 academic year can be found below. Check schedules regularly to stay up-to-date on upcoming interviews, new additions, time changes or cancelations.
Recruiter Information
To be successful in the hiring process, it is important to
have a basic knowledge about the employer and the company
which you would like to work for. One way to do this is to
attend the info sessions provided by recruiters on the day
before the interviews. Another way is to research an individual
company. The link below provides more information about the
companies visiting our department via their home pages.
