Undergraduate Program
The
undergraduate program seeks to produce high quality, rigorously
trained mining and minerals engineers who are prepared to meet
the challneges of a professional career or continued acadimic
research. The program offers a broad range of mining and minerals
engineering related studies that emphasize current technology
and thought, coupled with a sound basis in laboratory and research
procedures. Some of the program highlights include:

Educational Objectives
Specifically, the Department of Mining and Minerals Engineering seeks, as its educational objectives, to prepare graduates:
- to solve engineering problems using the fundamental principles of science, mathematics, and engineering, in conjunction with state-of-the-art tools;
- to function in a professional and ethical manner, and understand the social, environmental, regulatory, and safety considerations of the mining profession;
- to be effective communicators, leaders and team members
- to understand the practical aspects of the mining industry and possess and appreciation for mining as a business; and
- to engage in life-long learning and professional development

Our department receives generous financial support from both alumni and industry. On average, over 60% of our students qualify to receive funding or scholarships of up to $3,000 per academic year. Our scholarship program provides assistance to all of our students.
