Zhenghe Xu Appointed Dean of New Chinese Engineering University

Dr. Zhenghe Xu, who earned his Ph.D. from Virginia Tech in 1990 under the direction of Dr. Roe-Hoan Yoon, has recently been appointed Dean of the College of Engineering at the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) in Shenzhen, China.

Zhenghe is taking on the new challenge after having served for 20 years as a Professor in the Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering, University of Alberta, Edmonton, Canada. Zhenghe’s research interests lie in the areas of oil sands engineering, interfacial phenomena in mineral and materials processing; advanced coal cleaning and combustion technology; emission control; nanotechnology; and molecular interactions at interfaces.

Founded in 2011, the fast growing Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) is a public university located in the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone of China.
