Department Emergency Action Plan (EAP)
Emergencies and disasters can strike anyone, anytime and anywhere. A workplace emergency is an unforeseen situation that threatens students, staff, faculty and visitors; disrupts or shuts down part or all of the university community; or causes physical or environmental damage. Emergencies may be natural or manmade.
At Virginia Tech, planning ahead for emergencies is part of normal business planning and campus life, and all members of the campus community share a responsibility for preparedness.
The Department of Mining & Minerals Engineering has Emergency Action Plans (EAP) for its Holden Hall and Plantation Road Laboratory facilities which detail actions department employees are expected to take in response to an emergency. It also identifies individuals that have an emergency response role.
Holden Hall EAP
Evacuations
If Holden Hall is evacuated in response to a fire or similar emergency, all personnel are to report to the pre-designated assembly point at the War Memorial Chapel located on the Mall. At the assembly point, supervisors account for personnel and report any that are unaccounted for to the Emergency Coordinator, local police and/or the fire department.
